Currently in my makeup bag

As a base I have been using Sheer Cover for years now and I love it!! Sheer Cover blends with your skin's natural oils and feels more like a liquid foundation. This lightweight mineral powder gives your skin a naturally and smooth appearance and allows the skin to breathe. In addition it deflects light away from flaws as discoloration or redness and gives your skin a beautiful luster.

Right now I like MAKE UP STORE’s eye shadows and usually pick different shades of mauve, lilac and brown as I think it goes well with my dark eyes. I’m not a lipstick person, I normally use only lip-gloss, but if I do I go for more light colors as it gives an illusion of bigger lips.

Whish you a great week! XOXO Nicky

Big big favorite of mine!

Yesterday I came across this image that I have taken a while ago and it gave me the worst lobster craving EVER!! I definitely have to make this again soon – it looks so good! So my prediction is that, this will be on my table in the very near future!

Baked lobster with hints of sage and lime

Ingredients: lobster, butter, fresh sage, parsley, garlic, salt, black pepper, lime.

Preheat the oven to 275 degrees. Split lobsters in half and put them in a roasting pan.Mix the butter with sage, garlic, salt, pepper, lime zest and lime juice of half lime.Click the herb butter on the lobsters and cook in top of oven for 5 minutes. Servedwith garlic bread.

Wish you a great day! XOXO Nicky

Time for something new

Sitting in my kitchen trying to decide what colors to choose. If everything goes as planed we star to renovate the whole apartment in the middle of February. I will go for neutral light colors, chic and simple. Bright neutrals work great as a base, opens up the space and make furniture and the objects in the room stand out. I think that personal things like photos and art should make a statement and be the focal point in the home rather than the walls.

Have a nice afternoon! XOXO Nicky

Finding my voice

I love books! I don't really know why, but I've never really been a big reader of fictional books of any kind, the kind I love the most are style, design or photography books. Since I was a little girl I was drown to beauty. I remember when most girls were playing house with boys, I rather spend time alone drawing, coloring and painting a imaginary world that only I understood. Out in nature instead of playing hide and seek, I would try to find a prettier shell, stone or flower than the ordinary. My life-long thirst for beauty and creativity have shape me and still is shaping me to the person I’m and aspiring to become. Living among beauty is therapeutic for me, since it transmits positive energy and harmony. I find so much inspiration in these wonderful books, inspiration to continue my journey to perfect my style and find new ways of self-expression.

Slowing down

Right now my life is very hectic, not at all what I’m use to. I hate early mornings and I hate to rush. However sometimes we all need to compromise and right now I’m compromising, something that I’m not very good at. I guess you could say that I’m eccentric. I make up my own rules as I go along and don’t try to fit into the norm created by society. I have always been good at listening to my own intuition and chose a path that feels right even if it doesn’t seems right. Soon life will get back to normal…well normal for me:) Its going to feel wonderful to get back to my old routines with lots of time to myself, plenty of sleep and the luxury to chose how and with whom I spend my time.

“Your life is nothing but the time you got. A waste of time is destruction of life. Time well and wisely spent is life grandly lived. Life is time! “

Back into shape

Image: Summer 2009

Tomorrow will be my first day at the gym for a long time. It is really time for me to get serious about my work out regime not just for superficial reasons but also for my heath. It’s going to be fantastic to feel confident, fit and strong again. Physical exercise is also great for reducing stress and relaxes the mind, which is very important  for me since I think waaaaaaaay too much! It is going to be challenging but also a lot of fun. I do need the discipline and the focus right now.

Caviar & Dreams

Sitting in my kitchen eating caviar and thinking about all my plans and goals for this year. Tomorrow I will begin a new life. There will be some new routines but most impotently more focus on the things I want rather the things that I don’t want. The Law of Attraction suggests that when we focus on the things we want, we begin to attract those things into our lives. Works the other way around as well, that’s why it is so important to choose our thoughts carefully and not waist time on the negative. It is not easy but essential to learn what to hold on to and what to let go.

All the art of living lies in a fine mingling of letting go and holding on.
